UK’s Security and Resilience Industry Suppliers Community (RISC)

RISC is an inclusive alliance of trade associations, suppliers and other organisations that represent the UK’s security and resilience sector.

Established in 2007, RISC is the UK’s leading security industry alliance which serves as the principal channel of communication between the UK security and resilience industry, the Homeland Security Group (HSG) within the Home Office, and other government departments and agencies on security-related requirements and policy issues. RISC represents around 6,000 companies by virtue of the representative organisations which participate.

Following a successful tenure by Sir Kevin Tebbit (formerly the Director of GCHQ, Permanent Secretary to the Ministry of Defence, and currently Senior Vice President – Corporate Affairs at Smiths Group plc), the chairmanship of RISC is held by Dame Julie Kenny starting from 1st January 2022. Dame Julie Kenny is the former Chair and CEO of Pyronix Limited and has been involved in a range of public bodies for over 25 years, including Chair of the Small Business Council and Chair of the UK Commission for Employment and Skills. Dame Julie also previously served as the Chair of the BSIA between 2010 and 2012.

RISC serves as conduit to the security sector, broadly defined. The alliance works with the Government to facilitate information sharing on opportunities and consultations, and also circulates calls and tenders of strategic importance.

RISC was founded by ADS, the British Security Industry Association (BSIA) and techUK. Membership is open to other appropriate, representative bodies.
