  • Comfy site on a smallholding in the Conwy hills
  • A half-mile walk to village pub with grub
  • 30 mins to Snowdonia National Park; 20 to Colwyn Bay
Between the mountains and the sea, a stay on this quiet smallholding gives you space to consider your options. Pant Y Rhedyn is 10 acres of meadow land in the hills of the Conwy valley. It's fresh air and views stretching from the Snowdonian mountains to the Irish Sea. It's also, in the midst of all this open space and nature, an extremely comfy spot to stay. Roomy geodesic domes give you all-day views of the finest kind, from the morning mists to the sunsets and the night sky. There's a log fire to toast your toes inside and campfire to toast what you choose outside. After days of fresh air and nights of stargazing, you'll appreciate the beds (one double, two single sofa beds) and warm blankets. Morning cuppas can be brewed on the camping stove, and the kitchens have all that's necessary for a basic bit of nosh. Fridges, freezers and washing-up facilities are communal, but every dome comes with its own hot shower and toilet. There's nothing like barbecuing some bangers on a fire while you sit under a canopy of stars and plan tomorrow's escapades. If you'd like things a little easier, the pub's a 10-minute walk or a five-minute drive down the road, serving up hot grub and local ales.

Non-electric grass tent pitch

Liked: Everything! This is the best site I've ever stayed at its in beautiful countryside and you have your own private pitch surrounded by a meadow with your own compostable toilet picnic table and firepit. The showers were lovely and hot and the communal area had games for the children to play while I did the washing up.Claire the owner was great and helped me put the tent up when we arrived which I totally didn't expect! ( I was camping on my own with 2 children) Claire also took us to visit her animals which we all loved. We all can't wait to go again.

Disliked: There was nothing to dislike!

Non-electric grass tent pitch

Liked: Claire made us feel very welcome, despite arriving a little late. The site is very well kept, very quiet and secluded. There is only 3 camping pitches and a handful of glamping pods so you get allot of privacy and the kids have a central place to meet and play. The environment and sustainability obviously plays a big part in the campsites ethos and we benefited from it. There is allot of wildlife around, I saw toads and owls for the first time in years. The alpacas are right characters also. If you prefer luxuries or a nightlife, this site isn't for you, if you like a simple camping experience in a beautiful environment, you can't go wrong. We stayed in a tent but the glamping pods looked amazing

Non-electric grass tent pitch

Liked: Great host who gave good communication before we arrived, greeted us and supplied information about the area. The pitch was a good size and not too close to neighbouring pitches. The campsite and pitch had everything you could want including a toilet and bins on pitch, trolleys to pull things down to camp, an area to charge phones, freezer and shower. There was even a shop and games available to borrow. Good location with good views not to far from Colwyn Bay, Conwy and Llandudno. Will definitely be staying at this campsite again in the future, Claire is an amazing host.

Non-electric grass tent pitch

Liked: No cars allowed by the tents - my young children could play freely without the worry of cars passing. Private nature of the campsite and the camping pitch - we looked out onto countryside and watched the sunset whilst having a campfire. Firepit with log stools at each pit, the girls loved them. The stocked honesty shop, and ice pops, amazing that you can use the QR code to pay by card - very handy as I don't carry cash. Girls had fun playing with one of the board games available on a rainy evening. Shower was hot and clean. We had our own toilet next to the tent, with soap to wash our hands. Able to walk to the pub for dinner, with home cooked food.

Disliked: Nothing.

Non-electric grass tent pitch

Liked: Each pitch had its own toilet. Ability to charge electronics in a communal building and well as a fridge and freezer available for customers to use. A small selection of useful items was available to buy or borrow as well. Saved us as we forgot a lantern

Bluebell geodesic dome

Liked: Absolutely everything. From the moment we arrived to the moment we had to leave.

Disliked: Not that we disliked it but one thing we would personally alter is the fact that outside one of the camping domes is a tree that brushes up against it (especially in the breezy weather) not the most relaxing of sleeps 😔

Non-electric grass tent pitch

Liked: I really liked that there are areas of long grass, that there is a recycle bin for each pitch, a shower was available and a shop with various necessities and snacks, we were welcomed by Claire who is kind and friendly. Oh and there was also a bench at the pitch we used, which was a nice surprise, because we didn't bring a table. Thank you Really nice experience and place overall

Local attractions

You're in a plum spot here for activities both mountainous and coastal. Surf Snowdonia (30 minutes' drive) even combines the two, with a giant artificial wave lake on the edge of the mountains. The national park visitor centre (25 minutes) is a good port of call for tips and guides to this fabulous region of mountain railways, high peaks and waterfalls. Many hiking and biking trails of all lengths start right there. If you want to hit the heights without huffing and puffing, the mountain railway takes you from Llanberis (50 minutes) to the top of Mount Snowdon, giving you staggering views all the way without you having to stagger anywhere. Heading seawards, the beach and traditional seaside attractions of Colwyn Bay are 20 minutes' drive away: stop driving when you hit the sea (obviously) and bag yourself a boat trip down the River Conwy or round the coast. Nearby Bodnant Garden (15 minutes from site) is a bountiful National Trust site of horticultural history, wild meadows and walking trails. Those who want to see the trees from a different angle meanwhile should head to Zip World (50 minutes), nothing to do with trousers and everything to do with zooming down Europe's longest zipline, swinging on high ropes and bouncing on underground trampolines.
