  • Well-maintained farm campsite with spacious pitches and great views
  • In the quiet hamlet of Paythorne, 20 minutes' drive from Skipton
  • Views over Pendle Hill and direct access to the waymarked Ribble Way
Life is good in this part of the Lancashire countryside – you're right on the edge of the Forest of Bowland, 20 minutes' drive from Clitheroe, with spectacular views over Pendle Hill, while a short distance away on the Ribble Way you can admire far-off Malham Cove and the towering Three Peaks. Manor House Farm Park also has easy access to some of the most scenic parts of Yorkshire, including the Yorkshire Dales National Park (roughly 10 minutes) and the popular market town of Skipton (20 minutes). This back to basics site is in the quiet hamlet of Paythorne, a laidback spot off the A682 with a friendly local pub. Manor House Farm Park has only very basic amenities – while fresh mains water is available, it's worth noting that this spot operates without on-site toilets and showers. There's a very free and easy atmosphere here, and guests are welcome to bring dogs along, let kids run free or set up a barbecue – provided, of course, that all of this takes place safely and at a respectful distance from other guests, as many come here to simply soak up the peace and quiet… As you'll have gathered from this spot's location between the Forest of Bowland and the Dales, the surrounding area isn't short of local interest. Popular nearby options include taking a tour of Gisburne Park (five minutes), browsing the shops, bakeries and cafés in Barnoldswick and Settle (15 minutes) or taking sunlit strolls along the nearby Ribble Way.

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: This is a most confusing, and unhelpful review. It makes little sense to say you would visit again and would recommend to friends after giving such a poor overall impression of our site to others. It is confusing and unhelpful to give any rating for facilities and activities that we do not advertise as having on our site. We are a site with basic facilities only and do not advertise as being a site with toilet block/showers. We have no plans to change this policy, and it is made clear that tourers booking onto our small site must have their own facilities. We would be pleased to hear what you were not satisfied with in regard to location, value for money, accomodation, child friendliness, cleanliness and WIfi as we cannot tell from your review and you did not mention any of your gripes when I asked you whether everything had been OK for you before you left, then felt it necessary to give such a poor overall review for no fathomable reason once you had left our site. What you did say however was that you had spent most of the time with your friends in the huge 5 star static holiday home complex nearby so you clearly were not interested in much about our small site that our other guests tell us regularly that they enjoy, which makes the poor impression you have given of our site in your review even more questionable.

Electric grass and gravel touring pitch

Liked: Exactly what we expected and wanted. A nice relaxing break with a lovely pub about 20 steps away. The owner of the site welcomed us and she is lovely. We had fires and barbeques on site, listening to music and watching all the animals. There is drinking water and somewhere to the empty toilet also recycling bins. A lovely flat site and well kept. We thoroughly enjoyed and will defo be visiting again. Thank you for a lovely stay :) from Andrew and Brenda Lee (Preston) xxx

From the manager: Thank you for your review and pleased to hear you liked the tranquility, views and the pub across the road. Our site is clearly advertised as a basic site with mains water and electric, and as a busy working farm we intend it to remain as a small basic no frills site for those who enjoy its tranquility, views and the pub across the road as well as its location, the farm animals, wildlife, walks directly from the site, and who have their own toilet and shower facilities. Hope we may see you back again.

Liked: Stunning views, amazing farm animals and really helpful friendly owners. The site is opposite the Buck Inn (closed Mondays and Tuesdays) but serves really good food when open) tip for others! The Sat Nav takes you to a farm lane opposite the Buck in with no signage, just head down the lane and you will see the site. The site is well placed for visiting local attractions such as Bolton Abbey, Pendal hill, Pendal sculpture park and Skipton. We also parked up in the Warfe car park near Appletreewick on a hot day so we could cool off in the river. There are so many stunning walks in the area too. We had a great time and would definitely recommend and return.

From the manager: Thank you for your kind review and great description of your stay on our small site, it was a pleasure. We hope like many of our guests you will be back as we are central to the market towns and small picturesque villages of Pendle, Bowland, Craven, the Yorkshire Dales and the Ribble Valley for great days out in an area seeped in local history with a variety of natural attractions, local events, hidden gems, and places to eat out, visit and explore in every direction. Our small site is a perfect base to return to or just spend the day relaxing at a more leisurely pace whatever the weather or the season, as you enjoy the amazing views, the farm animals, wildlife, walks, nature and rural life going on around you.
