Background

Some areas of the UK, much like the rest of the world, are tourism hotspots, and local authorities and councils thrive off holidaymakers visiting each year. Popular seaside destinations; Bournemouth, Christchurch, and Poole are ideal locations for families looking for a beach getaway. For families with children, playgrounds are a key part of a British holiday for an inexpensive afternoon out.

In the early 2000s, BCP Council (Bournemouth, Christchurch, and Poole) purchased a large amount of our timber Playtime® playground fencing, using it for multiple playparks across the coastline.

Around 20 years later, the fencing is still standing strong around these parks today, even after rebranding and equipment replacements inside the boundary.

Unfortunately, this story is uncommon; often the incorrect type of fencing is specified and installed by local authorities and councils, and in the long run ends up costing a considerable amount of extra council funding towards emergency repairs to play parks after vandalism, or the fencing falling into a state of disrepair.

Winton Recreation Ground Play Area

The fencing still firmly demarcates the boundary to create a safe area for play and stop dogs entering the playground, showing no signs of damage, rot, or insect attack.

Christchurch Splash Park – Now ‘Quomps Splash Park’

In 2019, the popular splash park in Christchurch Quay was refurbished while the existing Jacksons Playtime® fencing stayed put. Here are some photos of the fencing providing a safe and fun environment for the original park over ten years ago, and the newly refurbished park today. Even in an environment close to water, our fencing has not been damaged by rot.

Alum Chine Play Park

Alum Chine is a fully enclosed play park including water play, multi-play, see-saws, swings, roundabout, wooden pirate ship, and slide. Situated in a coastal environment subject to sometimes extreme weather conditions, it’s great to see our fencing still staying strong.

A colourful play area with water play, climbing frames, and monkey bars. The natural timber fencing creates a safe, natural boundary that allows the colours of the play equipment to pop against it.
