Civic University Agreements

The University of Exeter is in the process of establishing 3 Civic University Agreements with Exeter, Cornwall and Devon and Torbay. These Agreements will establish how the University will work in partnership with other anchor institutions in the region to help find solutions for society’s most pressing problems.

Civic University Agreement Exeter

The anchor partners of the Exeter University Agreement are:

  • University of Exeter
  • Exeter City Council
  • Exeter College
  • Royal Devon University Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust

The Civic University Agreement Exeter recognises that the University is fundamentally linked to the place and people of Exeter. Exeter Community Panel

The Exeter Community Panel is helping us to embed the broader community voice in the University’s CUA activities. The Panel comprises local residents who help us to identify local issues, challenges and opportunities and provides a community perspective on a range of university plans and activities. The panel also offers objective opinions on ideas, initiatives and partnerships and helps us set priorities for, and review Community Fund applications.

Formed in 2022, following an open invitation to residents across the city, the Panel is Chaired by the University’s Senior Vice President, Registrar and Secretary, and meets three times a year.

If you’d like to get involved or simply hear more, please get in touch by emailing regionalteam@exeter.ac.uk

Civic University Agreement Cornwall

The anchor partners of the Cornwall and Isles of Scilly University Agreement are:

  • University of Exeter
  • Falmouth University
  • Cornwall Council and the Council of the Isles of Scilly
  • Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly Integrated Care Board (ICB)

This civic strategy brings the two universities together with the councils and the ICB to work in collaboration to support Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly’s growth and prosperity.

Through the Agreement, the universities will explore with local partners how their facilities and specialist resources, teaching and skills, and research and knowledge exchange can be leveraged for the benefit of the region’s businesses and communities.

The Agreement identifies four priority areas for action, aligned with Together We Can: The Cornwall Plan 2020-50, which was shaped with the input of thousands of local residents. The priorities are:

  • Green Futures
  • Healthy Futures
  • Fair Futures
  • Creative Futures
