Say it like a local

Introducing our Welsh audio buttons on property pages

Ever looked at a holiday property listed on our website and been clueless as to how to pronounce it? Fear not any longer, for our brand new Say it like a Local campaign in honour of St David’s Day 2024 plans to banish all uncertainty with the launch of new Welsh audio buttons across our website.

Here at Coastal Cottages of Pembrokeshire, we’re a company proud of our Pembrokeshire heritage. At the heart of our ethos is to care for and protect the landscape and the National Park within which we live, whilst shouting about all the beautiful details that make it so extraordinary and sharing it with all of you, our wonderful guests who have supported us and stayed with us over the years.

If you’re familiar with our company, you’ll know that our small team is as local as can be. Our small, family-run team consists of local residents from across the county. We each live here, work here and most importantly, play here. We breathe Pembrokeshire. It’s a part of our soul.

Being proud to be from Pembrokeshire goes hand-in-hand with being proud to be Welsh, and we’re certainly as patriotic as can be. So when the opportunity to do something special for St David's Day arose, we took it with both hands.

About the "Say It Like A Local" Campaign

This year in celebration of March 1st, a date chosen to commemorate Saint David (aka Dewi Sant) who is the Patron Saint of Wales, we have launched our “Say It Like a Local” campaign. As of St David’s Day 2024, you will find a brand new feature across many of the property details pages of our website.

For those properties with Welsh house names, you’ll now be able to hear how to pronounce their names with the addition of a handy volume icon that plays an audio soundbite of the name being pronounced

Visit property pages such as Cnwc Y Wylan, Llain Gwynfor, Gwestyr Wennol, Melin Abereiddy and Ty Lwcus to check out the soundbites for yourself.

We roped in our favourite first-language Welsh speaker from the team, Elen, who was only too happy to make her audio debut online.

How to Use the Welsh Audio Buttons

Land yourself on the property details page of a holiday cottage with a Welsh house name, such as Gwestyr Wennol, and you’ll now find a volume icon on the page, located just above the description next to the house name. Make sure the volume is on loud on whatever device you’re using, click the button and voila - you’ll hear our Elen speaking the house name aloud for you.

What our CEO said

“We wanted to do something really different to celebrate St David’s Day this year and have a little fun with the Welsh language. Our “Say It Like A Local” campaign ticks both boxes whilst also being a really useful feature for our guests!” - Matthew Evans
