Biography

Born in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Malaba studied international economic relations at Ivan Franko National University of Lviv (Ukraine), before training at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama. He is a former Jette Parker Young Artist (2020–22) and was a Link Artist in the 2019/20 Season. His Royal Opera roles have included Ceprano (Rigoletto), Abimélech (Samson et Dalia), Montano (Otello), High Priest (Nabucco), Medico (Macbeth), Doctor Grenvil and King of Egypt (Aida), and in the Linbury Theatre, Second Elder (Susanna). Engagements elsewhere have included Samuel (Un ballo in maschera) for Opera Holland Park and Alidoro (La Cenerentola) for the New Generation Festival, Florence and West Green House Opera. Additional roles include Sarastro (Die Zauberflöte), Don Basilio (Il barbiere di Siviglia), Publio (La clemenza di Tito), Sparafucile and Monterone (Rigoletto), Banco (Macbeth), Prince Gremin (Eugene Onegin), Somnus (Semele), Il Re (Ariodante), Vodník (Rusalka), Don Magnifico (La Cenerentola), Colline (La bohème), Mandarin (Turandot) and Ferrando (Il trovatore).
